Class FAQ’s

What will I learn?

My classes usually have a mix of clients who just want a fun activity along with clients who really want to learn more about cookie decorating.  I usually approach each class focusing on the fun part but also offer tips & tricks to make your cookies stand out.

We’ll discuss icing consistency, how to outline & get a smooth flood, and layering & dimension.

Each class usually also has a unique technique (stippling, painting, transfers, etc)—easy tricks with great results.

What should I bring?

Just yourself.   Everything will be ready for you.  The icing will be colored & the ready to go, the cookies rolled & baked, all that’s waiting is for you to decorate.

How long does a class last?

Most classes are 2 hours.  Occasionally I’ll add an extra half hour if it’s a topic I think students may want to explore further.

The class I want is full.  Can you squeeze me in?

Wish I could!  But you can sign up for an upcoming class before it fills up.  I am limited due to my space.  This ensures that I can give the appropriate attention to my students.  You can also email me and I can add you to my waitlist.

How big is a class?

My classes cap between 10-12 depending on the class.

Where will my class take place?

In my home near downtown Naperville.  You get to see where the cookies are made!  You can easily make a day out of it—cookie decorating then walk downtown for a meal.  The retail downtown area starts a half mile away.

Do you offer private group classes?

I sure do!  We can schedule a time for your group of 6-12 people.

My plans changed.  Can I get a refund?

You can get a class credit good for a year.  Or you can get a free take home kit.  If you’re feeling poorly, please stay home (if I get sick, I don’t get paid).  A lot of early prep goes into a class—I start prepping more than 2 weeks ahead of time in order to get everything ready for you.

I absolutely LOVE your cookie recipe!  Will you give it out?

After class, I’ll send you the cookie recipe I started with.  It’s a great, relatively foolproof recipe that’s easy to work with.  I’ll also send you my royal icing recipe along with an easy glaze recipe.  I can also give you tips on how to tweak your family recipe to get better results.
